Barnaby Philps is General Manager of Exploration, U.S. Gulf of Mexico at Shell. He was born in the UK and has 25+ years’ experience in leading exploration and development projects across multiple jurisdictions globally. Following his education at Imperial College, London (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.), he began his career with BG Group as a geoscientist and subsequently held technical, exploration leadership and change management roles in the UK, Egypt, Brazil, and Australia. Since joining Shell in 2016, he has led exploration activities in Myanmar, Malaysia, Brazil and most recently the U.S. He has a proven track record in discovering commercial hydrocarbons, building strategic relationships, leading diverse teams and developing talent.

Barnaby is married (to Ginny) and has two children, Aurora (12) and Charlie (11).
