BritishAmerican Business congratulates Andy Burnham on his election as leader of the Labour Party and subsequent appointment as Prime Minister. We look forward to working with the new administration to strengthen the UK-US economic relationship.
In the context of US-UK trade and investment, BritishAmerican Business believes there are five priorities for the Burnham Government:
BritishAmerican Business CEO Duncan Edwards said:
“The Prime Minister will have a full in-tray, but one thing should be clear from the outset – maintaining a strong UK-US economic relationship must remain a priority.
“The US is our largest trading partner and most important source of investment. The UK cannot take US investment for granted; competition for global capital is intensifying and businesses have choices about where they invest. If the UK wants to remain the destination of choice for US companies, it must back this up with a clear set of pro-growth policies.
“BritishAmerican Business stands ready to work with the UK and US governments and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic to strengthen the UK-US economic corridor.”
