Membership Journey

“Birketts  is pleased to have joined the British American Business Texas Chapter. Whilst  helping to raise the firm’s profile in arguably one of the fastest growing US  economic regions, it will enable Birketts to foster collaboration with  like-minded firms and organisations involved in UK-US trade and investment.  Membership reinforces our commitment to cross-border legal support; enabling our team to support existing clients looking to expand into the US market better, as well as building relationships with Texas-based corporates, investors and professional advisers to provide UK legal expertise for their clients – an area where there is already a strong inbound investment flow.”

Birketts LLP joined BABC Texas as a new member in 2026, as part of our continued US growth strategy. With Texas a key focus, it was a natural step to join a network that builds closer relationships between British and American business leaders across the state. We work with many overseas clients entering the UK and UK clients expanding internationally, so the UK–Texas corridor fits naturally with what we do.

Membership offers Birketts a valuable opportunity to deepen transatlantic relationships and build long-term client partnerships. The US is a hub for innovation, venture capital and mid-market M&A activity, all key drivers of demand for legal services. This creates significant opportunities for the firm’s UK clients looking to expand, invest or partner in the US, whilst aligning with Birketts’ focus on delivering exceptional legal services to individuals and businesses. Birketts distinguishes itself through its focus on and expertise in advising on cross border transactions of a deal value of $1m to $200m.

Through the new relationships created by BABC Texas membership, the team will be able to connect clients with trusted advisers and business opportunities and provide coordinated cross-border advice to support their global ambitions.

Membership also strengthens Birketts’ ability to support US-based clients entering and operating in the UK market, providing clear, practical guidance on regulation, tax structuring, employment and real estate, alongside seamless cross-jurisdictional legal support.

What’s Ahead

Over the coming year, Birketts will continue to strengthen its presence in the US, with Texas at the heart of that focus. A key early step is our team’s visit to the State this month (October). We will be building connections with the BABC Texas community and learning more about the regional business landscape first-hand.

We aim to be a reliable UK legal partner for Texas businesses with interests in the UK. Equally, we want to support UK organisations looking to grow in Texas, whether through transactions, immigration, regulatory matters or setting up and protecting their operations.

Collaboration Opportunities

We’d welcome conversations with fellow BABC Texas members about:

  • Cross-border legal support: helping Texas businesses entering or operating in the UK, and UK businesses expanding into Texas
  • Employment and immigration: supporting organisations moving talent between the UK and the US
  • Knowledge sharing: joint events and briefings on international M&A, regulatory change and doing business in the UK
  • Referral partnerships: working alongside US advisors, firms and professional services members on international matters

Above all, we want to build trusted, mutually supportive relationships across the transatlantic business community. We look forward to getting more involved with the network and getting to know fellow members in Houston, Austin and beyond.

Meet the Birketts Team in Texas later this month!

Sacha Wooldridge (Partner and Head of Immigration) and Salim Somjee (International Corporate Partner) will be in Austin and Houston during the week of October 26 for the UK-US BABC panel event. They’d welcome the chance to meet fellow members for coffee or lunch, introduce themselves and share more about Birketts.
